2022 Summer Nights


Open until 8pm on six Thursdays this summer!
June 30, July 14 and 28, August 11 and 25, September 8


Take advantage of extended hours to enjoy the summer’s warm weather and long days. Stroll through the Garden at sunset, and enjoy refreshments around fire pits near the main entrance. Click the button below for general admission tickets. Scroll down to pre-order food for the night you will visit and/or purchase tickets for the special event on each night.


The Garden will offer savory and sweet treats to enjoy during your Summer Nights visit to the Garden, regardless of the type of ticket you purchase. Click the PRE-ORDER FOOD button below for the night you will visit to purchase delicious, high quality samplers. Pre-ordered food will be available for pick up 5pm and 7:15pm at the Refreshment Tent just past the Dickinson Family Education Conservatory.Outside food is not allowed for the Amphitheater Concerts or the Wine in the Garden special presentation.

Savory Tastes include: Charcuterie & Cheese Boards with extra sharp Australian grass fed cheddar, cranberry hazelnut raincoast crisps, triple creme brie, sopressata salami, fresh fruit, aged gouda, a fig spread and a sour cherry spread. Gluten free option available. 

Sweet Treats include two cheesecake bites and two macarons/GF. Other desserts include: Lemon Bar/GF, Raspberry Almond Bar (V), and The Cookie (made with Belgian chocolate, walnuts, & sea salt). 

In addition to food, a selection of cold drinks will be available for purchase on each night. This includes: bottled water $2, flavored sparkling water and sodas $3, and various wines, spritzes and craft beers $9.


SPECIAL EVENTS | 6pm start

Amphitheater Concerts and Special Presentations require special event tickets, which are available through the TICKETS button below each event. Special event tickets include general admission. Concerts on the Lawn are open to anyone with a General Admission ticket, although capacity is limited. Scroll down for dates and special event descriptions.

Amphitheater Concerts
Tickets for these live concerts can be purchased in advance and include open seating in the Amphitheater. Capacity is limited, so purchase your tickets early. Take advantage of reduced price Amphitheater Concerts until one day before the concert date: $10 for members and $30 for non-members (includes Garden admission). Day-of online and walk-up tickets are $15 for members and $35 for non-members. Outside food is not allowed for the Amphitheater Concerts. Concert tickets are not interchangeable. 

Concerts on the Lawn
Enjoy family-friendly concerts on our Gazebo Lawn. Concerts on the Lawn are free for members or with Garden admission. Bring a towel or small blanket to sit on. For safety reasons, folding chairs are not allowed unless needed for ADA accommodation. Capacity is limited, so reserve your admission tickets early via the online reservation system.

June 30 | Peter Sprague Quintet with Rebecca Jade

Amphitheater Concert

Kick off the Garden’s 2022 Summer Nights with a live outdoor concert featuring American jazz guitarist and local legend, Peter Sprague. He and his talented group are returning to the Garden with vocalist Rebecca Jade. Enjoy the energizing sounds of the full band (Peter Sprague on guitar; Tripp Sprague on sax, flute, and percussion; Mack Leighton on bass; and Duncan Moore on drums). Awarded the 2018 Best Jazz Album by the San Diego Music Awards, they will reinvent classic songs by Cole Porter and Stevie Wonder and will present their jazzified arrangements of The Beatles classic songs including “Day Tripper,” “In My Life,” “I’ve Just Seen a Face,” and many others. With Rebecca Jade on vocals it’ll be a special summer night of creativity and nostalgia coming together as one.


July 14 | Hullabaloo

Concert on the Lawn

The Garden welcomes all families to enjoy one of San Diego’s most popular kid-friendly bands, Hullabaloo. Our summer just wouldn’t be complete without their foot-stomping, wing-flapping, free-range, organic kid folk music. Come see the full trio: Steve Denyes on guitar and vocals, Shawn Rohlf on the mandolin and Brendan Kremer on cajon. Don’t miss this huge fan favorite!


July 28 | Finnegan Blue

Amphitheater Concert

A favorite band at Southwestern festivals, Finnegan Blue will perform a mix of toe-tapping originals as well as bluegrass covers and New Orleans style Second Line. The band features sibling duo Anna Lee and Willie Fleming, Malcolm Jones on sax, Kevin Higuchi on percussion, and bassist Oskar Beckmann. Experience the talented group as they leapfrog through a mix of energetic music.


August 11 | Billy Lee and the JukeTones

Concert on the Lawn

Round up friends and family for another outdoor concert on the Gazebo Lawn. Billy Lee and the JukeTones are returning to the Garden to share upbeat music described as “gumbo jazz” and “vintage swing.” Billy Lee and the JukeTones play locally and around the world. This band is a “show band” and their music is made to dance to!  Don't leave the kids at home; bring them along for the fun.  


August 25 | Wine in the Garden

Special Presentation

Join this wine appreciation event to experience the distinguishing characteristics of three renowned wines from around the world as you taste and learn about the geographic locations in which they are produced. You will come to appreciate how climate, soil, and terrain play a role in winemaking and even in plant selection for your home garden.

This lively and engaging presentation will take place in the outdoor Amphitheater and features Certified Sommelier Dane Kuta and the Garden’s highly esteemed Director of Horticulture, John Clements. This presentation requires tickets to be purchased in advance and includes open seating in the Amphitheater. Tickets are $34 for members and $49 for non-members (includes Garden admission). Capacity is limited, so purchase your tickets early. This is a 21-years-old and up event. Outside food and drink are not allowed for this presentation. Tickets cannot be purchased onsite on the night of the event.


September 8 | Peter Pupping Band

Amphitheater Concert

The Peter Pupping Band is a local favorite known for exploring diverse musical genres, particularly Latin music. The band features guitarists Peter Pupping and Bill Wilson with Jeff Basile on upright bass and Roy Gonzales on percussion. The Peter Pupping Band has performed live in the US and on television and radio and has recorded several CDs. They are famous for their ability to perform a wide and eclectic repertoire spanning centuries of classic art music, world music, jazz, and pop styles. Enjoy an evening under the stars at our last concert this summer.
