Photo/Video Fees

The San Diego Botanic Garden is a wonderful place for photography and videography. HOWEVER, a permit is required for any professional or planned photo and film sessions in the Garden or for educational assignment. Any photographer, videographer or artist who intends to use images taken in the Garden for portraits, commercial, professional, promotional, advertising, marketing or any other purposes (where payment of any kind is received by the photographer, videographer or artist for images taken at the Garden) must complete a Photography and Filming Application, a Hold Harmless Agreement and submit the applicable fee payment. In commercial instances, proof of liability insurance is also required.

Without payment of the applicable fees and application approval, it is strictly forbidden to sell or use images taken in the Garden for any of the aforementioned activities, including but not limited to publishing; marketing; educational materials; products and retail merchandise; general and web advertising; broadcast; or any situation where the photographer is paid for the use of the image taken at the Garden. Use of photos in these ways can result in the Garden taking legal action.

Reservations. Reservation requests can be submitted in-person or via email to lreynolds@SDBGarden.org by submitting a signed Photography and Videography Application. In order for you to have a perfect setting for your photo or video shoot, the Garden will limit the amount of scheduled activities each day. To reserve your space, an Application, Hold Harmless Agreement and full payment for the photo or video shoot must be received by the Garden 10 business days in advanced of the scheduled date/time of the shoot. Please Note: Times may be restricted if other events are scheduled in the Garden on the date/time requested (i.e.: If there is a wedding booked no photo or video shoots will be permitted during that time). The Garden reviews requests for commercial filming and photography on a case-by-case basis. The Garden reserves the right to deny any photography or videography shoot requests at any time.

Fees. The San Diego Botanic Garden is a 501(c)(3) organization. The fees collected are used to support the care and continuing preservation of the Garden.
