Create your own succulent wreath for your garden table, wall, or door with a variety of cuttings from the Garden in the comfort of your own home. Take a virtual trip behind the scenes with us as we show you the entire process, from propagating succulent cuttings to designing and building a decorative wreath. Form and cuttings included in the class price.

Create your own watercolor art inspired by Chinese brush painting techniques and transform it into a beautiful 3-dimensional lantern. All levels welcome!

Recommended materials that are not provided: watercolor paints, watercolor paper, brushes, scissors, a ruler, a pencil, and a battery-powered candle.

Join us as we tour one the most useful and aromatic gardens at San Diego Botanic Garden. We will look at the garden design and how to use herbs to maximize the joy in your own garden. We will discuss plant care and herbs that will both excite your senses and are easy to grow.

French Country Style with Ranunculus

May 8, 10-11:00am

Join our Artist-in-Residence, Rene van Rems, AIFD, for an easy and creative way to enhance your living space, safely from the comfort of your own home. We will furnish large, locally-grown ranunculus flowers which we will design in a low coffee table style, “Mille Fleur”. This design is abundant, low, and full of color and texture. Follow along with Rene as he shows you the entire design process from start to finish. No previous experience is required!

Registration includes all design elements. (Pruners or knife are not included)
Class materials will be available for pickup May 7th (10am-4pm) at the Garden.

Cost: Members $90, non-members $108. Please register by May 1st.

Join our Artist-in-Residence, Rene van Rems, AIFD, for an easy and creative way to enhance your living space, safely from the comfort of your own home. Be daring and creative with California-grown and highly unusual Protea. This “fresh to dried” composition will last months as it morphs into an everlasting centerpiece. Follow along with Rene as he shows you the entire design process from start to finish. No previous experience is required!

Have fun creating art with inspiration from nature and using actual flowers and leaves from your garden. Produce beautiful works of art with this easy and unique art technique. All skill levels welcome!

Recommended materials that are not provided: flowers of various colors, leaves, and thick paper. We will discuss how to enhance your design with watercolors as well, so if you would like to try that, you will need watercolor paints, brushes, and watercolor paper.

Virtual Drip Irrigation Basics

Water costs are sky high! Most people also have poorly installed irrigation systems that are very inefficient. In this class we will teach you how to convert your fan spray or gear driven sprinklers into super-efficient in-line drip irrigation. You’ll save lots of water and have healthier plants. We will provide a detailed parts list and teach you how to install your system.

Virtual Air Plant Workshop

Air Plant Workshop

Need a new gift idea instead of flowers this Valentine’s Day? Air plants are some of the most captivating yet easiest plants to grow. Also known as Tillandsias, these plants can be used in a variety of ways for any home décor. Learn where air plants come from and proper care techniques, take a virtual tour of the Dickinson Family Education Conservatory with Jeremy Bugarchich, our Tillandsia expert and Curator, and create your own mounted air plant display in the comfort of your own home.

 

Let Your Heart Shine:
Heart Luminary Workshop

Transform your own watercolor painting into a glowing luminary to share with your loved ones. We will take inspiration from the red flowers that grow in the Garden, as well as discuss how you can use something as simple as celery to make heart prints! This class is fun and easy. All skill levels welcome!

Recommended materials that are not provided: watercolor paints, watercolor paper, brushes, glue (hot glue works best, but white glue works well), celery, and a battery-powered candle.
