Toddler Tales and Tunes (recommended for ages 1 - 4)
2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th Tuesday, 10 — 10:30 am
Play in the garden and pot plants to take home. Pre-school stories and songs are offered on the patio of the Ecke Building from 10:00-10:30 am.
Garden Arts and Crafts
10 – 11:30 am
Children may participate in a variety of arts and crafts. There will also be plant potting and other fun activities.
Trains, Paints, and Plants (recommended for ages 1 - 6)
10 – 11:30 am
Watch our motorman-engineer, James, run his special trains. He will also answer all your train questions. A nature-related craft, and plant potting will be offered.
The Preschool Explorer Sprouts will guide children through seasonal activities every first Thursday of the month.
Herb Festival, Spring Plant Sale and Tomatomania®
Activities for children will be offered during the Herb Festival on March 15 and 16. For detailed information on this event, click here.

Special Craft Activity Featuring the Herb of the Year – Artemisias
Learn about this marvelous plant and its uses. The aromatic leaves of some species are used for flavoring, such as, A. dracunculus (tarragon), particularly important in French cuisine. However, most species have an extremely bitter taste.
Lady Bug Day
Saturday, April 5th, 10 am - 12:30 pm
Children are invited to join docent-guided lady bug search teams through the garden and learn about lady bugs and other insects that live in our back yards. Insect-related craft activities will be offered in the Eucalyptus Grove. Children may show off their favorite bug costume, if desired. We will release hundreds of lady bugs at the end of the event.
Spring Party with Bunny
Saturday, April 19
Early party: 10 am – 11:30 pm
Late party: 11:30 am – 1pm
Children ages 2 to 6 are invited to visit our gentle big bunny, make colorful spring crafts, pet real rabbits, and go on a parade through the garden, which will end with a “stuffed bunny hunt”.
Limited to 50 children per party.
Cost: Members $15 per child, non-members $18 per child. Regular admission fees apply to accompanying adults payable upon arrival.
Free for adult members. Please pre-register your child online or in person at our office.
Pre-registration by phone, e-mail, or mail are not accepted.
A touch of fantasy world in the middle of lush gardens, our garden railroad brings the whimsical charm of a miniature railroad to Seeds of Wonder, placing smiles on many faces, young and old. Come take a tour of our miniature landscape.
All Aboard! The train wanders through the country side, passing under the gondola which carries our miniature visitors to the height of “SOW Mountain” and onto the “Quail Lookout Tower.” From the height of the tower you can see a small town in the distance. The town is serviced by a trolley that provides means of transportation to the many residents. Push the big yellow button and you are the Engineer!
