Schotia brachypetala
Common Name: Tree Fuchsia. African Walnut

Origin: South Africa

Growth Habit: The compound leaves of the Tree Fuchsia create an attractive medium-size tree that tends to drop its branches to form a 15-20’ low-branching specimen.

Cultural Requirements: This tree needs full sun and protection from colder temperatures. The Tree Fuchsia grows in poor soils or I dry conditions but will perform better with occasional summer watering and a well-draining soil. It may show frost damage if temperatures fall to about 23-25 degrees Fahrenheit.

Uses/Features: A good medium shade tree known for its dark garnet-red flower clusters in the spring.
