Fairy Festival

 

Calling all young fairies! Come to the Hamilton Children’s Garden wearing your favorite costume. Fairy and garden-related flowery and glittery crafts will be offered for a small fee. In the morning, enjoy child-friendly live entertainment on stage. In the afternoon, San Diego favorite Hullabaloo will be performing dance and sing-along music. There will also be a Fairyland Market, pizza and ice cream. Don’t forget to stop in to have a photo taken with the Fairy Princess!

Cost: Free with paid admission or membership. Small fee for crafts. No adults in costume please.

 


Fairy Festival Schedule

Fairy Crafts
10 am – 4 pm

Magic Wand - Decorate a magic wand with ribbons, beads and glitter (5 Tickets)

Treasure Chest - Paint a wooden box, decorate it with rhinestones, sprinkle it with fairy dust and fill with a selection of “diamonds” to put into your treasure chest (6 Tickets)

Potpourri - Fill a small fabric bag with fragrant dried herbs from our garden to make a sweet smelling satchel
(2 Tickets)

Fairy House - Build an enchanted fairy house from a coconut shell, a wicker tent, branches, bark , seed pots, shells, pebbles and other natural materials (10 Tickets)

Fairy Dust Bottle - Use colored sand, glitter, beads and pearls to fill a small fancy glass bottle, then decorate your bottle with colorful ribbons (5 Tickets)

Sand Art Butterfly – Use a funnel to fill a small butterfly bottle with layers of colorful sand (3 Tickets)

Fairy Mirror – Decorate a mirror that is mounted to a tree cookie with pressed flowers and wooden bugs and sprinkle with fairy dust (5 Tickets)

Petal Flower Fairy – Make a fairy doll from mixed craft materials (4 Tickets)

Native Fairy – Build a fairy doll from seedpods and other natural materials (4 Tickets)

Butterfly Box - Paint a ceramic butterfly box with shiny paint and sprinkle with fairy dust (5 Tickets)

Fairy Necklace – Decorate a reed wreath, star and heart with fabric flowers and glitter to make shimmery pendants for a wooden bead necklace (4 Tickets)

Pick from several cute designs (2 Tickets)

Enchanted Butterfly Garden
10 am – 4 pm
Our Butterfly Garden will turn into a magical fairy village (free)

Fairy Queen
10 am – 4 pm
Take pictures with the Fairy Queen and Fairy Princess (free)

Seed Planting and Book Reading
10 am – 4 pm
San Diego’s Children’s book author Bradley Zink will read from his books in the Incredible Edible Garden and will guide children through a seed planting activity. (free)


Fairyland Market

10 am – 4 pm
Visit our Fairyland Market to stock up on wings, wands and other glittery fairy items.

Creations By Lily – decorated birdhouses made from natures findings
Pixie Chics – handcrafted silk flower fairy ornaments and mobiles and fairy garden kits
Dandelions – Halos, wands, wings, skirts and more
Wands of Whimsy – handmade bubble blowing wands
Korie’s Kreations – Wings, wands, baby covers and more


Food

10 am – 4 pm
Rita’s Italian Ice

Flora in the Garden
This interactive play invites young fairies to help an endangered species find a new home. Led by the Fairy Queen, they welcome Flora to the Garden, where they follow a very hungry snake, buzz with a bee, and dance under the King Cyprus Tree.
