Artist’s Statement:
The inspiration for these kinetic garden sculptures comes from Lupine flowers. These flowers are torch cut from scraps of salvaged steel and individually painted. Each flower is unique. If kept outside they will age over time, changing from the vivid colors of their youth to a natural, distinguished-looking, rust-colored patina.

Artist’s Bio:
Joe Rawlinson is a steel furniture maker and metal sculptor living in Cardiff, CA. All of his pieces are built by hand, mostly from salvaged mild steel. Jon loves the challenge of creating new things from discarded or unloved items. Though he enjoys making whimsical garden and wall sculptures, he finds a balance between his practical nature, and his creative soul in designing and building functional furniture pieces. His work is influenced by the beauty he finds in nature and in the natural character of the steel. You can see more examples of his work at www.jonraw.com.
