Artist’s Statement: My first exposure to bronze was at Cranbrook Art Academy in 1955. I have been doing them ever since. I appreciate the flexibility of the bronze process and that it happily adapts to unique places.

Artist Bio: The artwork of James Hubbell is multimedia and consists of wood, metal work, watercolors, jewelry, glass, and bronze or iron sculptures.

James Hubbell has designed hundreds of commissions in glass, doors, sculptures, fountains, gardens, and the like. He has created restaurants, homes, chapels, schools, and parks, but is best known for the Chapel at Sea Ranch, California and the Doors of Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates.

Most recently, Jim has completed a fountain at the City Complex on Coronado, the Gazebo Park on Shelter Island, and a large forged-iron gate at the Julian Library.

Jim and his wife, Anne, have resided in Santa Ysabel, California for the past 53 years.
